Writing an informal email
Follow the steps a –e to write an informal email to a friend about an experience that has made a difference to your life.
It could be:
  • ·         At school
  • ·         At home
  • ·         While travelling
  • ·         A friend
  • ·         A hobby / sport
  • ·         An interesting subject / topic
  • ·         ……….

A)  think of ideas -------THE DIAGRAM

B) THE PLAN
PARAGRAPH 1
Say hello and ask your friend a question about what he/she has been doing since you last met.
Tell your friend about something that YOU have been doing OR an experience that you’ve had.
PARAGRAPH 2
Give more details about what you have done or about the experience you have had.
Explain when and where it took place and what happened.
PARAGRAPH 3
Say how you felt about the experience and how you’ve changed, as a result.
PARAGRAPH 4
Finish the email by saying why you have to stop writing. Say goodbye.

C) THE DRAFT
Write the first draft

D) CHECK
Reread your email and check it for spelling and grammar mistakes.

E) WRITE the FINAL VERSION OF YOUR EMAIL and send it to your teacher.
